Meeting Room A room 154

Steen Metz, a child Holocaust survivor, tells about his experiences in the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II.

At just eight years old Steen Metz was arrested with his parents and deported from their home in Odense, Denmark to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic. What followed was a harrowing journey of survival through unimaginable conditions. Of the 15,000 children imprisoned at Theresienstadt, fewer than 1,500 survived. Metz is one of them. He shares his deeply personal account of life in the camp, the heartbreaking loss of his father, and the remarkable rescue by the Red Cross. His story does not end with liberation — instead, it continues through a successful international career, a life built in the United States, and a passionate mission to ensure the world never forgets.

The program is open to adults and students.

This program will be recorded.
