Artist Jim Parks embodies Monet to reveal the inner life of the gifted artist in 1860s Paris.
Sacre bleu! Impressionist Claude Monet was once so poor he watched his wife and newborn baby shiver in the cold because he couldn’t afford coal. Yet, at the end of his life he was rich, famous, and a French National Treasure. What happened? To answer the question, Evanston actor/artist Jim Parks becomes Monet in the flesh … while dishing the dirt on Impressionists like Degas and Renoir, unpacking the booming Paris of 1860, and struggling with an art establishment that reviled him. When Monet died in 1926, the last of the Impressionists, he had changed the entire course of Western Art.
