Despite facing significant challenges, including sexism and societal doubts about women’s intellectual capabilities — earning college degrees and scientific accomplishments — pioneers like Henrietta Swan Leavitt, Annie Jump Cannon, and Cecilia Payne-Gaposhkin made significant discoveries that revolutionized our understanding of the cosmos. While names like Galileo and Newton are celebrated, this session shines a spotlight on the women who measured the stars and their remarkable scientific achievements.
