Mount Prospect Public Library

Youth Program Room Combined room 119

We are here to help create a roadmap for your child's reading journey. This parent and caregiver workshop is all about ways you can help your growing reader thrive and succeed.

For parents and caregivers of children 3-7 who are learning to read.

Learning to read is a big accomplishment for children that can sometimes be an intimidating process for the adults who support them. This workshop is an opportunity to build your knowledge around reading and connect with other families with growing readers, as well. We'll discuss what all the buzz is about with the science of reading, explore texts like decodable books, and share fun, playful activities that build early reading skills. Come prepared to learn new games, explore reading suggestions, practice hands-on strategies, and more.

Because of the topic and structure of this program, we ask that children please do not attend. To build early literacy skills with your child, check out our Ready, Set, Read! program.
