How do architects make buildings that can withstand earthquakes? The Instrumental Seismic Intensity tool, created by Hispanic scientist Arturo Arias Suárez, predicts how strong an earthquake will be, helping engineers design shakeproof buildings.
In this program, you will use recycled materials to construct a building. Then put your building on our shake table to see whether it could survive an earthquake. Keep rebuilding and testing to discover the best earthquake-proof designs!
Please note there may be small pieces and adult guidance is encouraged. While supplies last.
No registration necessary. This is an open house format program. Drop in anytime and stay as long as you like. Last entry is 15 minutes before the end time.
The Main Library is located in downtown Mount Prospect, next to Village Hall. The building houses an extensive collection of materials, spaces for quiet and collaborative work, several program rooms, public computers, a dedicated teen space, and engaging play area for children.
